Salinda Zunkel's Artist Statement
I studied traditional Chinese brush painting in Beijing for three years before emigrating to the United States in 2012. I had never painted in the Western style before joining SCVWS. I paint in studio nearly every day and join with the Society plein air painters each week when we are not traveling. I use Western watercolor methods for my paintings, but paint with traditional Chinese brushes. My painting "Wine Grapes" was from a cutting left on the ground at Clos LaChance Winery in Morgan Hill, CA
