I started painting in 2014, shortly after my 50thbirthday.  Previously I had taken drawing classes but when my mother, who is also an artist, suggested I try painting I stepped into the water and have never got out.  I love painting with watercolors because of how the paint interacts with the water and paper in subtle and bold ways.  Its unpredictability is exciting, and you are never sure how the final image will turn out

 

I’m mostly self-taught, and my inspiration comes from time spent outdoors in California and Europe, hiking and gardening. I am a long-time volunteer with the California Native Plant Society – Santa Clara Valley chapter and I enjoy painting the plants and landscapes both in the Bay area and other parts of California.
